Architectural Design and Drafting I & II                                                     Grades 10-12

Instructor: Ladette Boone                                                                                 2 Credits per year

Year I Enrollment Requirements:   A student must:

  • complete a Career Tech Center application.
  • meet NWEA MAP scores:
    • in Reading – 5th grade of 206 or higher RIT score.
    • in Math – 5th grade of 211 or higher RIT score.
  • have good school attendance.
  • have a lack of discipline referrals.
  • complete prerequisite class, if applicable.
  • be approved by Career Tech Administration

Architectural Design and Drafting I is the entry level course of the secondary Drafting program. Students will gain foundation competencies related to orientation, safety, leadership, personal development, math, geometric construction, orthographic projection and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) skills. The focus of this course is based on mechanical drawing. Students will get some experience completing drawings at the drafting table and at the computer.

 Year II CTC Enrollment Requirements:  A student must:

  • complete a Career Tech Center application.
  • not have a NC for Year I.
  • have a 70 final average or higher in Year I.
  • must score 55% or higher on Year I MS-CPAS2 test.
  • have good school attendance.
  • have a lack of discipline referrals.
  • be approved by Career Tech Administration.

Architectural Design and Drafting II is the exit level course of the secondary Drafting program. Students will gain foundation competencies related to orientation, safety, advanced leadership, personal development, architectural drafting, and CAD skills. The architectural drafting section includes floor plans, elevations, foundations, and sections. Students are expected to successfully complete Architectural Design and Drafting II Performance Based Assessment (PBA). One of the four required mathematical units for graduation (not Algebra I) may be earned in Drafting if a student successfully completes Architectural Design and Drafting I & II.
