  • Cakes 101-SPI110HH17W (6 weeks) Buttercream & Royal Icing
    • Learn basic cake construction and how to make buttercream and royal icing flowers, borders, and piping techniques. Instructor: Shara Wolfe, former certified Wilton Instructor. HHS Rm. C108. Mon. 6-8 p.m. Fee: $30. Supplies to be purchased from instructor’s list.
  • Cakes 102 – SPI210HH17W: (6 weeks) Fondant/Gumpsaste/Modeling Chocolate
    • Learn to cover cakes in fondant. Make flowers, bows, and more out of fondant, gumpaste and modeling chocolate from instructor Shara wolfe. Mon. 6-8 p.m. Class beings 3/13. Fee:$30.
  • Cakes 103 – SPI310HH17W: (3 weeks) Figures and Advanced Techniques
    • Make figures out of modeling chocolate, fondant, and gumpaste. Learn hand painting, stacking and flooding with royal icing. Instructor: Shara Wolfe. Class starts 5/1. Fee: $30
  • Chair Caning – SPI120WC17W: (6 weeks)
    • Bring your own chair or stool and learn the trade secrets to do traditional laced cane, flat reed, machine woven cane, or fibre rush woven sheets. If you are interested but do not have a chair of your own, don’t worry, our generous instructor has a few chairs for students to work on. Instructor: Jo Rusin. Tues. 9-11 a.m. Waveland Civic Center.   • Fine Art Drawing – SPI118HH17W: (6 weeks)
    • This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of gesture, contour, negative space, perspective, and value drawing. No drawing skills required. HHS – Wed. 6-8 p.m. Rm. A117. Fee: $30. Supplies purchased from instructor’s list. (Ask for supply list at time of registration.)
  • Introduction to Screen Writing – SPI150HH17W: (6 weeks)
    • This course is for anyone interested in writing a movie or TV script. Become familiar with story structure and basic screenplay formatting. Students will complete a short script and achieve the confidence to write a full feature length movie or TV episode. Instructor: Oreathia Smith. HHS – Tues. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Rm. A116. Fee: $30
  • Photography 101- SPI120HH17W: (6 weeks)
    • This class is designed for students wanting to learn basic techniques in lighting and shooting modes. This class will cover the basics including camera handling, resolution, flash usage, focusing and more. Concentrate on camera operations and how to take quality pictures. HCTC Thurs. 6-8 p.m. Rm. 5A.   • Sew Easy – SPI112HH17W: (6 weeks) Bring your machine to class
    • Seamstress Rachel Ramsey will teach you how to sew. Make a throw pillow, pajama pants, and a project of your choice. Learn to read patterns and select fabrics. HCTC Agri-Science Bldg. Wed. 6-8 p.m. Fee: $30. Class limited to 10┬ástudents.
